Auris Apothecary Has the "Very Real Desire to Destroy Everything"
In 2016 I happened across an obscure experimental micro-label in Bloomington, Indiana, called Auris Apothecary. The imprint was special and peculiar because of its incredible devotion to meticulous packaging design—but even more because of its "anti-releases." Those featured harsh, often inaccessible music on formats meant to physically ruin your stereo. Hoping for a better understanding of the label and the motivation of the man behind it, I took a four-hour trip from Chicago to Bloomington.
